My daughter has some sort of virus at the moment (headache, fever, dizzy) so I made my immune-boosting green smoothie this morning. Thought I'd share incase anyone else needs a boost:

Tons of greens (I used mixed salad leaves, kale and spinach)

Half a lemon INCLUDING the peel / zest as apparently it has loads of good stuff in

Fresh ginger

Amla powder - tricky to get hold of but Dr G recommends as it is ludicrously high in antioxidants

Cinnamon - all herbs and spices are really good for you

Banana - for sweetness

Mix of berries - I used blueberries & raspberries. Great for antioxidants and vitamins.

Manuka honey - not a Dr G thing but I've always used it for colds / sore throats

Flaxseeds (linseeds) - healthy fats and helps body to absorb all the good stuff

Turmeric & Black pepper (to help bioavailability of the Turmeric)

I also added 1 zinc pill and 1 iodine - I don't generally use supplements other than B12 (religiously) but I do use these 2 when I feel we might need a boost. I just add 1 pill of each to the smoothie mix before blending so we only have 1/3 each.

Millie followed with Oats, pumpkin seeds & sultanas.

All in all that's a pretty hardcore nutritious breakfast so I'm feeling hopeful that Millie will bounce back in time for sports day tomorrow 😃

And I'm trying to hold off on paracetamol, unless it's nighttime to help her sleep or if she's very uncomfortable, as the fever is part of our bodies fighting infection.
